Visceral. Surreal. Ethereal. The Mars Volta congregate to give birth to musicalisms and trancendental accidents. Truth be told if you don't enjoy this record than you can't possibly be a fan of Volta Mars. What else can you expect from the Fellini's of music? Audible art but now live and on two legs. Trance inducing melodies included, no drugs are necessary for easy digestion.

They play much better live in concert

This album makes The Mars Volta sound like doodoo. I saw them in concert in Oct. 2005 and Cedric's voice was very smooth and just plain impressive. On this album, while the musicianship is decent, his voice occasionally cracks as if he were going through puberty.

So true it isn't really a focused Live album, but they could have done a better job when choosing which performances would go on the album. There are some gems here: "take the veil cerpin taxt" and "concertina" are excellent versions, but the rest of the album is like WTF.
