A recording that will stand the test of time and serve as a reminder of just what a genius Schenker is with a Gibson Flying V. A lot of my friends listened to this CD for the first time and simply said; "Holy smokes! Where did he come from?" I then tell them he recorded this 25 years ago and was way younger than most of them. They were all utterly speechless and now are fans.

What a great solo effort and Schenker came out of the gates with guns ablazing. Incredible material, song writing, production and performance by all band members. Simon Phillips is a very talented drummer and lays down some serious tracks.

Highlight of this CD is the solo at the end of "Lost Horizons", that is mind boggling guitar work that is beyond replication.

This is a staple for anyone who follows extreme guitar talent and has an appreciation for master guitar work that will live on as long as music is played.

Awesome!

As it happened with a lot of artists that went solo (Dio, Ozzy, Bruce Dickinson, etc), their first solo record is a gem.

This was the case for Michael Schenker's solo debut, MSG. It's a master-piece that has endured the passing of time. Firstly, he chose a great lead singer in Gary Barden. Then, Simon Philips' (needs no introductino, this guy!) drumming is amazing. Roger Glover added a crispy and in-your-face sound. All the songs are great and a lot of them are still standards in his live set.

It's a shame that Michael's inconstant behavior was responsible for an endless change of line-ups in his band, and this alone caused MSG to have not alasting impact in the metal scenario, altough Michael's reputation as one of the hottest guitar players on Earth remained intact, and even increased.

You can't do no wrong with this album. It's just great.

A Must Have For a Classic Metal Fan

This album is one of the best metal albums of all time cause it goes to show you what rock 'n' roll is really about and Michael Schenker is one of rock's most respected guitar players in history, having previously played with Scorpions (along with Michael's older brother Rudolf) and the British metal outfit UFO, after leaving UFO, he rejoined the Scorpions for the Lovedrive album and left afterwards and he even auditioned for Aerosmith to replace Joe Perry, for which Aerosmith broke up over a glass of spilt milk.
Then he recorded his solo debut album and boy this album rocks, it's a must have by any classic metal, every track on this album are truly unforgettable, the album begins with the fast paced rocker with Armed and Ready, and the epic Cry For the Nations which has a beautiful intro before it turns into an explosion of bone crunching rock, Victim of Illusion is another rocker in the same vein of the previous track, Bijou Pleasurette is a beautiful soft instrumental and Feels Like a Good Thing is a mid-tempo rocker, Into the Arena is the album's other instrumental but this one is a fast paced rocker, Looking Out For Nowhere is another mid-tempo rocker, Tales of Mystery is perhaps the least known track on this album but it's another good song if a little short, Lost Horizons is a 7 minute plus epic which is another classic off of this album, if you love UFO, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Whitesnake and Scorpions, then you gotta own this album but get it while you can cause it's pretty hard to find and it is one of metal's most under appreciated albums of all time.
