Your latest reviews - Madonna : Madonna: I'm Breathless (1990)
In May of 1990, Madonna had released her sixth album entitled, I'M BREATHLESS. Some people think of this album as the soundtrack to her 1990 film, "Dick Tracy", where she played the villanesse, Breathless Mahoney (which is why she entitled her album I'M BREATHLESS). But this album is not the soundtrack to the film, for there only three songs from the movie that are featured on this album, where has most of the other songs have a "Dick Tracy" inspired sound (hence the front cover reading, Music From And Inspired By The Film "Dick Tracy"). This album is not quite as good as Madonna's first five albums, which is to why I had rated this album a four-star album, but this album is very unique and well-thought out. Plus, it has the #1 single, "Vogue".

HE'S A MAN
Not a bad song. You can easily hear some excerpts taken from "Dick Tracy".

SOONER OR LATER
Great song. Madonna performs this song twice in the movie, which makes this song "Dick Tracy" theme song #1. She performs the song in the beginning, while working with the character, Lips Manus. Than, as Big Boy Caprice (played by Al Pacino) takes over Lips' club, as well as making Breathless his new pin up, Madonna sings this song again at the club's opening night. Classic.

HANKY PANKY
The second & final single from the album. This is actually a great song. Some people frowned on this one, for it is a song that talks about Madonna telling her lover to spank her, even when she's being good to him. This means, she wants a little sexual foreplay.

I'M GOING BANANAS
This song separates itself from the 1940s Dick Tracy inspired Jazz sound, where this one takes up a 1990s Madonna-fied Latino sound. A great and fun song to listen to, not to mention, dance to.

CRY BABY
Not bad.

SOMETHING TO REMEMBER
This is a great Jazz ballad. Madonna sings it so smooth and relaxing. In 1995, Madonna digs up this song and includes it on her greatest ballads album of the same name.

BACK IN BUSINESS
Great.

MORE
This is "Dick Tracy" theme song #2, where in the film, as Big Boy Caprice is readying Lips' club for a re-opening. As he readies the club for a new opening, he has Breathless (Madonna) and back-up singers/dancers rehearse this song. Great song.

WHAT CAN YOU LOSE
This song is a duet between Madonna and actor Mandy Patinkin. They sing this song in the film, making this "Dick Tracy" theme song #3. Mandy does have a supporting role in "Dick Tracy", where he plays Breathless' pianist, 88 KEYS. I really do not care for this one as much.

NOW I'M FOLLOWING YOU (Pt. 1)
This version, which is a duet between Madonna and Warren Beatty (who plays Dick Tracy, as well as being the film's director, who also dated Madonna), is 1940s Jazz inspired and it only reaches 1-minute plus. A silly, but catchy song.

NOW I'M FOLLOWING YOU (Pt. 2)
This version, still a duet between Breathless and Dick, is actually the remix of the first version.

VOGUE
The first single from the album. This was Madonna's first song of the 1990s, as well as being Madonna's eighth #1 hit in the U.S. This song is just outstanding and is a favorite amongst Madonna's true fans. If you all would like to know the full names of the celebrities she mentioned (the 16 cerlebrities whom she idolized while she was growing up), then read on. GRETTA GARBO, MARILYN MONROE, MARLENE DIETRICH, JOE DIMAGGIO, MARLON BRANDO, JIMMY DEAN, GRACE KELLY, JEAN HARLOW, GENE KELLY, FRED ASTAIRE, GINGER ROGERS, RITA HAYWORTH, LAUREN BACALL, KATHERINE HEPBURN, LANA TURNER, and BETTE DAVIS.

This album, as I said earlier, is very unique, not quite as good as the first five, but still very enjoyable. I'M BREATHLESS is a worthy purchase, if you ask me.
