Review of Jarabe de Palo : Bonito The rock group originally from Spain, Jarabe de Paio, releases their first album under the Warner Music Latina label entitled Bonito. This album is full of songs that transmit optimism and a feeling of living life to the fullest. The title track "Bonito" delivers messages of peace, goodness and love. It is full of rhythm and Latin flavor, and engulfs you in a world of peace and serenity, giving listeners a different perspective of their surroundings. This album was made possible thanks to the collaboration of Elena Andujar and the group Martiers del Compas in the song "Corazon".
Users's Reviews - Jarabe de Palo : Latin Rock doesn't get any better that this.15 songs make up this album. Some of the most contagious are: the first promotional single "Bonito," which focuses in the beautiful things about life; mi favorite, "Mira Como Viene,"a fine and rare display of simplicity where the tropical trumpets are the main dish; "Bailar," an invitation to "shake it" when things are not going your way; "Como Peces en el Agua," where Pau gets philosophical about the speed in which we lead our lives not taking the time to stop and smell the flowers; "Corazón," half song, half poem with hints of Flamenco flavor; And "Yin Yang," an outlook at the extremes and the importance of meeting half way.
In a nutshell, Jarabe de Palo finds a perfect balance mixing handclaps, whistles, children's chorus, trumpets, Caribbean percussion, inspirational messages, and several Latin rhythms such as jazz, son, samba and flamenco. At the end, this album will leave you smiling inside. Latin Rock doesn't get any better that this.
Your latest reviews - Jarabe de Palo : Excellent if not for the copy protection!I enjoy this compilation for the easy-listening it provides, but be sure to listen to the samples to figure out if you'd like it or not: music is afterall something very subjective.
However, I'd like to issue a warning: this CD is copy-protected. I would be fine with this - afterall I did buy this CD from Amazon - except that this feature caused me a few problems:
1) I can't copy the music on my computer, thus I have to carry the CD's around if I want to listen to them.
2) The CD's skip on my computer when I run other programs, which is terribly annoying. I don't have that problem with MP3's or regular CD's.
3) I can't copy the music on my Palm, where I do most of my music listening while traveling.
4) There is a warning that these CD's might not work on some CD players, though it worked fine on my home stereo system.
5) I contacted the web support for this a few days ago, and I haven't received a reply yet.
So, if you want to listen to these CD's on regular CD players, go ahead. However, if you want to listen to them on your computer or Palm, forget it.
