How to Start a Fire Review
Just two albums in, and Further Seems Forever seems destined to be known as the band that launched Chris Carrabbas solo career. Too bad. The Dashboard Confessional frontman may have provided the vocals for the bands debut, The Moon Is Down, but with newly recruited singer Jason Gleason, the Florida band has developed into a dynamic unit, imbuing its hardcore roots with thoughtful lyrics and incredibly elaborate song structures. How to Start a Fire showcases a set of well crafted, expertly played rock tunes, particularly the inspirational title track, "Pride War," and "Insincerity as an Art Form." The band would probably shudder at the thought of being labeled the emo Genesis, but its honestly a compliment to Further Seems Forevers precision guitar work and dramatic flair. --Aidin Vaziri
The lyrics. Oh my god. These lyrics are HIGHLY poetic, they are beautiful, they will inspire you, and they will ignite you, incite you. I am not kidding. Let me repeat. This is by far the most underrated album in all of modern rock.
The musicianship is incredible. The bass, the guitars, the drums, and the VOCALS are by far the standout here. Jason Gleason has one of the most beautiful screams in rock. Check him out, he sings for ActionReaction now, but this stuff is by far him at his very prime.
If you are a lover of rock at all, of beautiful lyrics, and just overall good music, I cannot through words express how good this album is. Pick it up. Every song is highly experimental, and just plain amazing.
