good on LP, great on CD

I've owned this one for 25 years or so, originally on LP. On LP this one was merely very good. The sound on the LP was very thin. The CD has much improved sound quality, and it has several tracks not on the LP. The infamous "Punky's Whips" was censored off the original LP. "Cruising for Burgers" and "Pound for a Brown" are very different from the Uncle Meat versions and great. "I Am the Slime" has Zappa doing half the vocals over vampire movie type music and then Don Pardo, the announcer from the original Saturday Night Live, hollering the other half.

This album and "Roxy and Elsewhere" are great examples of his "Big Band" sound.

Another Great Live Zappa Performance

Assembling a tight and incredibly talented group of musicians for this live performance, Zappa and band put together a great performance. The musicianship is off-the-charts great, and there's plenty of humor. My favorite is "The Black Page". If you're a Zappa fan and this disc is not in your collection, get it now. Highly recommended!

I still remember Terry Bozio putting on his devil mask at the Hammersmith Odeon. This record was made in NY, but we also got to hear it in London.

This, like the Roxy or YCDTOSA vol2, is one of those fantastic live performances which brings it all together. A unique band (Brecker Brothers luxury included) and some fantastic material, including the first version of a Zappa Classical CLassic, The Black Page.

When you put that piece next to big leg Emma, you get a real Zappa record. In this CD a number of welcome (if not essential) tracks are added to the original vynil.

A fantastic record.
