Frank Zappa - Overnite Sensation
Overnite Sensation Review
Best known for the infamous "Dinah-Mo-Hum"--a tale of sexual depravity and bovine perspiration--Over-Nite Sensation is a flawlessly executed collection of jazz-rock Frank Zappa classics. The seven-song set, which includes backup vocals by Tina Turner and the Ikettes, equally showcases Zappa's unique penchant for storytelling and the abilities of his studio-musician sidemen. Zappa's guitar work is also some of his finest, flaring up on "I'm the Slime," "Zomby Woof" and "Montana." --Andrew Boscardin

Very pleasing to the ears

I am not sure I am sophisticated enough musically to fully appreciate what Zappa accomplished in his lifetime, but I know what I like, and Overnite Sensation is something I adore.

To the degree that it pleases the ears, Overnite Sensation also tickles the funny bone.

Some say Zappa was "selling out" to commercial success with this album. I don't think so, but if he did, I came along willingly.

All best. Lee

A message to the insignificant MUSICMAN and TRASHY 18 yr.old!

Dear MUSICMAN: You dismiss Eric Clapton like he's a nobody among guitar players? Where have you been? What dimension do you live in? You're a "music man"? Your posting was absolutely the most pathetic critique of a legend like Eric Clapton I've ever read. Your brain is as dead as Frank Zappa. You're PATHETIC, my friend....... ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC.
Dear TRASHY18 yr-old: If nobody cares what I think, then why have I managed to upset several people, including the repulsive you? Your message was so profound-you write like an autistic ten-year-old. You're a contradiction and a lowlife, and i'll continue to rip Zappa as long as it continues to annoy you, you vile piece of excrement. The nominally clever Frank Zappa once again fails to deliver with his unalluring style. As someone who felt he was way ahead of his time, he was blinded by an overwhelming sense of deluded grandeur. He acted as if the music business was something that was beneath him, when in fact it was actually something light years beyond his grasp. Fans of his like to remember him as a great guitarist. Excuse me? A list of great guitarists would certainly include Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eddie Van Halen. It would absolutely not include a miserable, angry cretin like the arrogant Frank Zappa.
