Great album... one of my favorites

This album is the first and possibly best album I have ever bought. I got it two years ago at HMV after falling in love with their first two singles.

Someone claimed this album is pop. First of all, it's not. But second and more importantly, so what if one or two songs don't have intense drumming? The two softer, mellow songs bring balance to the album and make it the great album it is.

Going Under: 5/5
Bring Me to Life: 5/5
Everybody's Fool: 3/5
My Immortal: 5/5
Haunted: 4/5
Tourniquet: 5/5
Imaginary: 4/5
Taking Over Me: 3/5
Hello: 5/5
My Last Breath: 4/5
Whisper: 10/5
My Immortal (Band Version): 5/5

Going Under and Whisper are the two darkest tracks on the album, with hard rock drumming and eerie vocals. They're also my two favorite tracks. I truly think Whisper is an amazing song. Tourniquet and Haunted are also dark, although I like Tourniquet more. It's about suicide and salvation with somewhat religious lyrics, but also very spooky.

Bring Me to Life is what the band is known for, but it is by far the best song. The piano intro is haunting and mysterious, but I personally find the rapping in the chorus irritating.

My Immortal itself is good, but the band version is even better with emphasized piano notes and drumming at the end, as opposed to the clean violin version. Hello is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard, and the melancholy it evokes is extremely powerful.

This album has gotten me through bad times, and I don't know what life would have been like without it. I fell in love with the album the moment I put it in my CD player and this remains one of my favorite albums to date. I can only look forward to what their next album has to offer. But till then, I highly recommend Fallen!

My First Rock Album.

I used to be into pop. And while a lot of people I know who like pop also like this album, it really changed something about me.
I needed the distorted guitars, so I bought a 12 Stones album. Then I just kept going up a step, and up and up, and now I'm into metal and hardcore. But it all started here.

This is still a good album.

THE GOOD THINGS ABOUT EVANESCENCE: Amy Lee actually has a good voice, the band can play instruments, Amy doesn't have to dress like a slut to sell music, she doesn't use language in any of the songs (except "Thoughtless, which is a Korn cover)they cover spiritual issues which some consider to be "Christian", and they can just write really good stuff.

THE QUESTIONABLE STUFF: They're not "true" goth, the word "bleeding" is too overused, some of the songs sound the same, I expected the album to be darker than it was, and they try too hard to prove that they're not a Christian band while they're practically inviting the title.

But they still have a thumbs up from me. "Tourniquet" is my favorite song on the album, cause it helped me through a rough time. But it was originally done by a death metal band called Soul Embraced. I downloaded the song, and it sounds so...uh...different. It's a guy growling it basically. Would probably scare you teeny girls, so listen to this version first. I also really like "Imaginary" cause it has a lot of different instruments in it, and it has pretty verses, and a cool bridge with a choir. I basically like all the songs, but these two I like the best.

I originally got this on my fourteenth birthday with my birthday money, and by my fifteenth birthday had mananged to break it. So I rebought it, and guess what? It had a bonus track! The "My Immortal" which I really liked was magically on the end of the album. So I guess I got something out of spending a whole 'nother fifteen bucks for a CD I previously owned.

If you don't have Origin already, you need to download it. The songs on there, in my opinion, are better than these ones. There are tons of covers they did on Limewire too. And a bunch of songs that aren't even on Origin.

Peace out.

Impressive but a little overrated

I have written a review for the original album but i don't care. This is a great album. All of the songs are good. The lyrics are excellent. They're deep but they mean something. I have to make it clear that this is NOT hardcore and DEFINITLEY NOT gothic metal. This is mainstream rock. I really don't think you'll see a "gothic rock/metal" band on MTV or the Radio. But evanescence's music has a pop twist to it. I don't think Amy has an AMAZING or haunting voice. Her voice is lovely, yes, but not amazing like Mariah Carey or something. As much as i idolize Amy i think she should just go solo. Let's face it, she gets all the attention, and the other musicians are very underrated. It's like they don't even egsist (sp). So i don't see the point in her being in a band if everyone just pays attention to her. She should definiley go solo. Anyway, my favorite songs are "Haunted and "Whisper". If you like evanescence, check out Nightwish. Nightwish is a gothic/power/opera metal (whatever the hell you call it) band. They are a lot heavier and better than evanescence. If you like mainstream music you should get this. But if you love this, check out Nightwish!
