I fell head over heels in love after I heard the track "So Are You To Me" on an episode of Alias, and had to buy the CD of the group that sang that song.
Every track on this album is beautiful and touching and haunting. The music is perfect. Don't be discouraged by the "folk" genre, this cd is the perfect addition to any cd collection. I would recommend it to anybody.

I bought this album as an experiment, and it has become my favourite buy of the year (of a good year). It has never been far from my stereo. The songs have a wonderful emotional intimacy, and immediately sound familiar and fresh. This is a remarkable album that calms me down when feeling over-emotional and fills me with emotion when calm.

The modernised bluegrass that reworked Steven Foster's song from 1854, 'Hard Times', sends this album off on an original and interesting path. Their own compositions, which follow, are all very well put together and truly evoke a sense of time and place. Although the language and instrumentation is clearly designed to depict a region and era, the subject of the songs (often dealing with loss) are universal feelings.

They both sing, and it is the woman (Kat Maslich) who has the vocal edge there but their best work is done when their voices blend. From the cool, almost period ballads such as 'So are You to Me' and 'All the Stars' to the plaintive sorrow of 'Mark's Song', the album depicts time, place and emotion with imagination and depth. It's very easy to feel the intimacy of the songs, which often feel simple but require no inconsiderable craft, and enjoy this album.

There are few albums I would recommend to everyone but this is definitely one.
