this album is a roller coaster epic masterpiece. not epic in the same way as mettalica are or any heavy metal band but just the sheer quality of this music. im not putting above all my faverote bands but of this area in my taste he is amazing there is noone like bowie on the planet. The music on this album is melodic hitting and danceable .i dont really see a single artist around now who isnt influenced by bowie in some way or form.now you may just go down to the store and buy his greatest hits and be content with that. if you do your missing out on alot of good stuff this album is good enough to be most bands greatest hits collection to be honest.i can only do justice to this album by reviewing it track by track
changes 11/10 atomospheric beging broken up by moments of catchy boogie riffs .as soon as bowies voice comes in the verse is melodic slowely has some clever lyrics then the irresistable chorus as good as anything the beatles ever recorded.
oh you pretty things 9/10 quirky piano at the begining slow verse again verse a bit boring although the chorus is as catchy and as infectious to the one in changes (you may of already heard changes)
eightline poem 10/10 lovely bluesy guitar at the begining .with a slow piano backing good music to listen to while relaxing in the bath .then bowie sings in a relaxing tone of voice very different to the one changes and the chorus of oh you pretty things.its a very slow track and is very guitar bases moving on.
life on mars 11/10 this song is extodanarily antemic and emotional beats. any power piano ballads of any era this has yet to be bettered by anyone .beaufiful epic passionate lovely melodies and meaningful lyrics and those arnt the only words i can use to describe this artist.
kooks 9/10 this one reminds me of the coral for some reason(the coral a much later band) i have no idea why i think its the base sounds a bit like a teddy bears picnic but more tuneful has some nice jazz piano fiqures
quiksand 10/10 starts off alot like kooks in the verse but the chorus is more like life on mars. the closing of the chorus is just so soothing another one to listen while relaxing or dancing.
fill your heart 7.5/10 its a cover seems a bit pointless i like the bit at the end that about saves i like the vioins but genrally lacks something the others have.lacks that class.
andy warhol 11/10 ok the bit at the begining with the annoying ring tone sound that sounds like happy birthday is extremely irritating could put you off .the song its self is brilliant.the ring tone sounds are instantly forgotten when the song starts a phenominal riff witch sounds heavy metal before if even exsisted i can tell mettalica where influenced by the spanishy guitar of bowie.
song for bob dylan 10/10 the quitar at the beggining sounds like the music you get during cough a porn film (not that i watch them) its about dylan again with most of the bowie songs has a really mermorable chorus. although the chorus sounds a tiny bit like country music (witch i hate ((no prejudice in the mix whatsoever)) on the the next song.
queen bitch 10/10 very much like the stong this song simple riffery and simmilar vocals.very rock n roll.
the bewly brothers 9/10 this is a likable track cept for the gravy bit at the end. witch is to wierd for my tastes youll understand when you hear it.the first time the chorus comes the noses in the back ground sound amazing a good end to the album.
now bowie is an amazing artist and this album is ONE of his best bowie has many classics and even if you dont like this there is something in the bowie discography for everyone
