The CD is called Afterglow NOT Appendix
5
A collection of Crowded House Rarities & B-Sides which spans over the 10 year duration of the band. Most tracks come for the turmoil ridden times before the amazing woodface CD. Tracks are studio fresh and full of melodies which will work their way into the cracks of your everyday life.

Left overs taste better than the original meal

I, for one, did not lament the end of Crowded House too much because I am a Neil Finn fan and there was no doubt he would go on making great music, with or without his Enz or Crowdies bandmates. "Together Alone" is their crowning glory, so it was best that they went out with that. Having said that, however, basking in the afterglow isn't too bad. I already own or have heard these songs on various singles or fanclub CDs . . . but to have them all in one place, they sound better than ever. The three TA outakes are great, as are "Recurring Dream" (version two), "I Love You Dawn," and "Anyone Can Tell." I've never cared for "Dr. Livingston," but this improved version is better . . . If anything, it just makes me more eager for Mr. Finn's second solo CD.

Other bands would kill for these b-sides and unreleased gems

I've had the album for a month now, and though I listen to other things, I keep coming back to this solid, thoughtful record. Despite being a collection of b-sides and unreleased material, it holds up as a complete album with little in the way of filler. The highlights are the sensual "You Can Touch" and the romantic "I Love You Dawn", which I listen to over and over again, singing along as I drive the freeway to and from work every day. Crowded House was a special band, folks, and deserve your attention. Don't you wonder what I'm singing along to as I pass you in the fast lane?
