Creed - Greatest Hits (w/ Bonus DVD)
Greatest Hits (w/ Bonus DVD) Review
If Nirvana's Nevermind heralded alternative's ascendancy into the mainstream, Creed's mega-successful 1997 debut showed just how quickly--and craftily--alt.rock's musical hallmarks could be utterly co-opted by it. Fueled by vocalist Scott Stapp's Weiland-inspired growl, Creed rode the Seattle pop-suffused string of hits included here to become one of the 90's most successful rock acts--if one whose level of critical revile nearly matched its multi-million sales. This CD/DVD combo features 13 of the band's signature performances (including all eight of its number one singles), songs that often turn on a Christianity-inspired message that could be as opaque (the anthemic "Higher") as it was overt ("My Own Prison," "What's This Life For"). The accompanying DVD completes the career retrospective, anthologizing nine of the band's videos along with previously unreleased live performances of "Torn," "Higher" and "Weathered." --Jerry McCulley

I Give Creed 5 Stars But Wind Up Records Gets Three!!!!!

First and foremost, I would like to say that Creed is probably one of the most talented group of guys to form a band in the last 30 years. Their following, record sales, and popularity are undeniable. The only thing that bothers me is that a band such as Creed, cannot release a live DVD. Although I am glad to have the Creed video collection as well as the few live videos on the DVD, this is a far cry from what should be released as from a band of this magnitude. All this DVD does is leaving you wanting more. If you watch the live performances it will have you searching the net for downloadable live performances otherwise unavailable. I would love to see them release some type of live concert with most of their hits included. I guess you could download, and buy things like Woodstock 99 (they are doing covers) but it would not be the same as a good DVD. Before I end this I would like to say that it is nice to have the video collection and the live performances of Higher and Weathered are awesome, but all it did was leave me wanting more

~Greatest Hits~

Creed is my favorite band so, yeah, I'm giving this 5 stars. The CD is just as the title says, Greatest Hits. All these songs were singles from the three albums they released - My Own Prison, Human Clay, and Weathered. For new fans this album is a good start...

Favorites: "My Sacrifice", "Higher", and "What If".

For the money, this is a great buy for any Creed fan! It comes with a DVD containing the videos for each song on the CD; so even if you have all 3 of the other Creed albums you'll be getting something previously unexplored, a reasonably priced treasure.

On a personal note, I bought this disk for "My Sacrifice" and "With Arms Wide Open." (They weren't sold as single downloads via WalMart or i-tunes.) Believe it or not, I had never heard any of the other songs on the CD before except "One Last Breath", and I didn't recognize the title before listening to the CD. After listening to the CD I'm not impressed by the other songs. However, the CD does come with a print out of the lyrics for each song, and that does please me greatly.

To each his own. Rock on Creed disciples!
