how Coldplay won me back

From the first time I heard 'yellow' I liked Coldplay, Parachutes is a fantastic CD, not a album for every ocasion, but fantastic none the less. Enter 'A Rush of Blood to the Head'. It was cheep, I was advised agenst it, I bought it anyway. I did'nt find it to be as appeling as the first relese, so Coldplay sliped below my radar.

Three years later, my good freind (ironicly, the one who advised aganst 'rush of blood') and I are driving around, and he had just bought X&Y, and had it playing. I did'nt much like it.
But, wate! Why the four stars, if I did'nt like it? Well, after listening to it for most the day the songs stuck in my head, and weeks later I realy wanted to hear X&Y agan, I even downloaded some of it off i-tunes to hold me over (I'm not the type to run out at 10 pm to get a CD).

So in the end, all thear is to say is that Coldplay has goten better with age. All of Coldplay's CDs are worth owning.

I hope The Album Leaf got paid.

Okay, so the other day I was sitting at my desk, listening to the In An Off White Room EP by The Album Leaf. I got to the end of the track Off White Room, which is a really ambient track that is 29 minutes long. About 10 minutes of the song is just city noise. Anyways, to my point.
At 2 minutes left in that song, I heard a part very familiar to me. So I went an listened to Talk by Coldplay.
Guess what?
Exact same melody and tempo of part. exactly. All Coldplay did was change the sound to guitar instead of synth.
So, I'm just wondering if Coldplay stole that part or they paid The Album Leaf off for it. Either way, this album is not as original as Parachutes or A Rush Of Blood To The Head.
Still great sing along music though.

Arguably not *as* amazing as their two previous albums, but give it time and you will love it!

I'll be honest and admit that the first time I listened to "X & Y" that I absolutely hated it. I was used to the amazing qualities that littered "A Rush Of Blood To The Head", and although the songs here aren't as instantly catchy or memorable as those ones, these are still very very good songs. Singer Chris Martin does another excellent job here - the only problem is that the lyrics aren't *as* profound and memorable as they were on "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" ("Clocks" was a great example). However, they're still interesting to listen to, and they certainly don't detract from the experience ("Speed Of Sound" admittedly has some pretty subpar lyrics). It's basically a different sounding album from the other two (relatively), but it's still fantastic. What separates Coldplay from other acts is how sincere they sound - the songs just have great heart and soul, even if they aren't all really about anything meaningful (once again, see "Speed Of Sound"). You can tell that they are a tad less inspired for this album than they were on their previous two, but it still manages to be great through and through. Even though it's clearly their "worst" album so far, it's still leagues better than most other bands' albums that come out each and every month. If you're a Coldplay or pop rock fan then you will probably love this album (though the songs might have to grow on you - I didn't like them at first, either). Absolutely recommended!

Highlights include:
the entire album!
