Brad hasn't lost his touch for the love song, as evidenced by "Two People Fell In Love". He remembers how to make us laugh with songs like the hilarious "I'm Gonna Miss Her" and the lighthearted "All You Really Need Is Love". He keeps our toes tapping with "Wrapped Around" and one of my favorites, "Come On Over Tonight."
You long for lost love with him with "Part II" and "I Wish You'd Stay". He also tries his hand at the big story genre with "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" and succeeds. And for lovers of the old Gospel hymns, his stirring live accoustical version of "The Old Rugged Cross" should leave you with a smile.
All in all, Brad Paisley fails to disappoint with his followup to "Who Needs Pictures" and I, for one, can hardly wait to see him turn this thing into a trilogy. The boy's hitting two for two, so if third time's the charm, it should be special indeed.
The real standouts here are his remake of "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive," and "The Old Rugged Cross." But everything else is good. "I'm Gonna Miss Her" carries on in the same tradition as "Me Neither;" both songs proving that Paisley can be funny without being goofy - a rare talent in the Jim Carrey era.
As a newcomer to country music, I'm very glad that I stumbled on Brad Paisley, or I would have presumed the whole genre was populated by the likes of Shania Twain and Faith Hill, and figured it was all just "rural Madonna."
