On this album, the friends and neighbors of the Cartwrights visit them for a Christmas Eve party. Songs are sung, and stories are told. Unfortunately, the only Cartwright that could sing, Pernell Roberts, barely appears on the album. He doesn't attend the party, and is only heard in a flashback to last year's Christmas party, singing "The Newborn King". The other actors aren't very good singers, with Dan Blocker being especially bad. This CD is for serious Bonanza fans only.

An American Tradition continues

As a child, my mother had this recording as an Album. My sister and brother and I almost wore out that record. We loved it. WhenI first got it on CD I wore it out! I have had to replace three times! My family tradition is going on to my grandchild now. It is so nice to find something that is family fun and funny. I know all the word by heart but it is not just memorizing songs, it's memories from childhood. My favorites are "Christmas is a coming" and "Santa Clause got stuck in the Chimney". It is the simpler pleasures of a simpler time. Enjoy it with your family for years to come. Even when no one remembers Bonanza the TV show, they will remember Bonanza, Christmas on the Ponderosa. Happy Holidays.

It's just "nice" - a definite throwback to a "nicer" time
