Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home
Bringing It All Back Home Review
"You sound like you're having a good old time," a purist Dylan fan is spotted telling the artist in the documentary Don't Look Back just after the release of this, his first (half-) electric album. He certainly does. Updating Chicago blues forms with hilarious, tough lyrics--in fact, all but stealing the meter of Chuck Berry's "Too Much Monkey Business" for "Subterranean Homesick Blues"--on one side, dropping some of his most devastating solo acoustic science ("It's All Over Now, Baby Blue," "Mr. Tambourine Man") on the other, the first of Dylan's two 1965 long-players broke it right down with style, substance, and elegance. --Rickey Wright

Fun, fast, rolling

The electric side of Bringing it All Back Home rocks. I guess that's probably oversimplifying it, but it does. Not only that, but the songs are relaxed, energetic, and more than anything FUN. This was before Bob got jaded as hell (which is readily evident in Highway 61 Revisited, a classic in its own right). Songs like "Bob Dylan's 115th Dream", false start and all, are hilarious. And Bobby even shows his softer, poetic side on "Love Minus Zero/No Limit", which has to rank among his best ballads ever. And I haven't even touched on the acoustic side, which is great in it's own right. There is NO other songwriter that approaches Dylan when it comes to lyrics. Check out "Gates of Eden" or "It's All Right Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)". Essential, just like most of Dylan's albums.

Bringing it all back home could very well be Dylans finest album.
In my mind the only album that could rival it would be The Freewheelin Bob Dylan.
This CD is loaded with hits and personal favorites. Many are songs that are not that well known, except fot people who know and who study Bob Dylan.
Dylan was a spokesman for his generation and this is certainly one reason why.
Its amazing how over the years many of Dylans songs remain true.
Dylan has always dealt with Civil Rights and spoken out about the injustice of politicians.
Mr Tambourine Man appears on this CD and remains one of his classics today.
Gates of Eden is a personal favorite. It's alright ma, I'm only bleeding is another statement and a personal favorite as well.
Its all over now baby Blue is another great song.
Love minus zero/no limit is another great song and another personal favorite.
This CD is not for casual listeners, its for people who want to digest his lyrics and want to hear what he has to say.
Truely a classic in every regard and a must for any Dylan fan
