Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies (Dlx) (Dig)
Billion Dollar Babies (Dlx) (Dig) Review
The original Alice Cooper band was one of the finest hard-rock units of the early '70s, which is why the second disc of this remastered version of Billion Dollar Babies is such a treat. Eleven bonus tracks from the band's 1973 tour display the Cooper band's taste for pop-culture--and a sense of humor, as Alice quotes from Don McLean's "American Pie" on a wonderful version of "I'm Eighteen," while the band delivers a ripping "Theme from Perry Mason" during an extended workout of "Unfinished Sweet." Rounded out with session outtakes, the second disc will have fans praying that Rhino unearths more live material. As for Billion Dollar Babies itself, it may not be the Cooper band's best album, but it was the final release of a quartet of extraordinary Bob Ezrin-produced hard-rock records (rounded out by Love It to Death, Killer, and School's Out), and it captures the moment when the band was at their peak. Including three hit singles in "Hello Hooray," "Elected," and "No More Mr. Nice Guy," the album--from Donovan's exciting cameo on the title track to the closing "I Love the Dead" (probably the prettiest ode to necrophilia ever recorded)--still sounds terrific. And the packaging, production, music, and imagery has inspired followers as diverse as the Sex Pistols, Marilyn Manson, and Hole. --Bill Holdship

O so good!!

My fave cut's are by far ''I LOVE THE DEAD'' and ''SICK THING's''..but ''NO MORE MR.NICE GUY'' has some lyric's I can beyond relate to!!!! and ''ELECTED'' is pretty good!! but it's those NECRO song's that take the cake!!

And of course it goes without saying COPPER is one of the most influential men in ROCK/METAL history!!!

All his other EARLY album's all are MANDATORY as well!!

Many a poser has gotten eaten alive by this album, as should be!!!!!

''I went to church incognetio, when evereybody rose,The reverened stood up, recognized me, and punched me in the nose''-NO MORE MR.NICE GUY!!!

alice cooper the first shock rock star that put to bed the hippie movement and bought out the glam rock evolves of the seventies with their long hair black eye make-up and glittery costumes alice cooper were a real band not to messed with this band could do what the f*** they wanted and you couldn't stop them...alice cooper is bob dylan's favorite songwriter of the past fifty years what an achievement too have the master of rhymes bob dylan say that you are his favorite songwriter..

this album has the classic singles "hello hooray"
"no more mr nice guy" and "elected"
all classic poetic hard rockin' songs that were some of "alice's" best ever..
this album features the classic title track "billion dollar babies" and the song that would take him into new realms of twisted inspiration "i love the dead" a scary 5.09 second trip with MR cooper..too end the classic 1973 album..GOODBYE HOORAY...

I'm so scared that your little head will fall off in my hands. Did you know that we go dancing nightly? Thats right. In the attic, while the moon is rising.. in the sky.
Alice Cooper has acheived metal notoriety over the years as a solo artist. He's been on the scene longer than, probably anybody in metal. Although, you have to understand that, there have been a lot of changes and turns along the road. A.C has got some real good stuff though.
The best however is from his famed Warner Brothers years, when he had his original band, that grew from under the wing of Frank Zappa's label and had numerous radio hits. The one big hit from this amazingly strange and wonderful album is NO MORE MR NICE GUY, but this whole thing is a triumph, really.
Is it metal? I'm not really sure, but it does ROCK, and some of these lyrics will certainly mind screw some of the trendy metalions of todays world. Old school is still the most cool, kids. Know your roots. BILLION DOLLAR BABIES is a horrible, bloody, masterpiece. ROCK!
