Christina Aguilera - Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera Review
Like fellow former Mickey Mouse clubber Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera kicks off her debut album with a teen-lust nugget--in this case, the No. 1 single "Genie in a Bottle"--that the rest of the disc can't possibly live up to. Aguilera has a strong voice, but patterns herself after iffy role models such as Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Aside from "Genie," most of this music is straight from the cookie cutter, like the less than successfully sultry "When You Put Your Hands on Me" and the Mulan ballad showpiece "Reflection." In chart terms, though, there'll be no stopping her--at least for a while. --Rickey Wright

CHRISTINA'S STRONG AND PROMISED DEBUT ALBUM!!!!!!!!!

Christina's powerful voice got my attention. I love her songs and the way sings them. This CD should have sold more than 8 million copies. It deserves that. This is a well-produced teen-pop album. The album is R&B-influenced. This album has pop ballads and uptempo dance-pop grooves. This album started the followers like Kelly Clarkson and Jessica Simpson. Christina Aguilera is a diva in her own right. She is a household name in my home. She is DA BOMB!! Her voice is high like Whitney Houston and low like Toni Braxton. WOW!!!!! THIS ALBUM BLEW COMPETITORS OUT OF THE WATER!!!!!!!!!!

I'd actually give this 3 and a half stars, but oh well. Here's the "lowdown":

Genie In A Bottle: It's a cute, very catchy song, nice to bop to, but honestly I'd be way too embarassed to admit it.

What A Girl Wants: This song is one of my faves, it's light and fun and goes perfectly with the mood of my life a while back. The part I loooove is when she's like "What a girl wants...blah blah... somebody sensitive, crazy-sexy-cool like you..." because the backround music is good. OK haha.

I Turn To You: It's boring, even though her voice is great in it. I only like the bridge in this song.

So Emotional: It's boring and I don't like it at all.

Come On Over: I hate this version of the song. The beat is off, the bridge is dumb, and the song reeks on this CD.

Reflection: This song is very pretty, and it was on Mulan. So it's all good.

Love For All Seasons: Eh, it's boring, not my thing.

Somebody's Somebody: I like this song a lot, it's one of my faves on it. Even though I'm not too fond of the lyrics. I loooove the beginning and ending- I wish the ending part had its own song! Makes me want to create my own song based on that beat, hehe.

When You Put Your Hands On Me: Ewwww, it's too sexual for my liking and it's corny. But I like the beginning of the bridge.

I forgot this song: Well, I forgot this song, but I probably didn't like it.

Obvious: It's okay, quite boring, but she sings well.

Overall, the CD is perfect for its year, with some good songs.
